LOST CAT (sad owner)
UPDATE!!!
My cat is BACK!
Unscathed and remarkably clean she showed up meowing at the door this morning.
All is well and happy.

Yeah yeah, I'm frum AND I have a cat.
Well I USED to have a cat.
While I was away for the weekend she got out for the first time ever. She's been missing since Shabbos morning and it's not looking good.
Very sad and it's especially hard to send your kids off to their first day of school with a lost cat on their minds :-(

I have nothing encouraging to add. I'm extremely allergic to cats and....well, as I said, i have nothing encouraging to add.
hope the cat comes back.
Thanks me too.
People have been really nice - one woman I don't even know lent me a humane trap to try to catch her with.
It's amazing how nice people are when you walk around town with tearful children calling for a lost pet.
i known them to come back a few days later. if possible, try walking a complete circle around your block, and the nearest next one or so. may work better for dogs, but it worked for the last lost cat, master of the household.
Perhaps it's on a long journey to go back to where it originally came from?
Was your cat hanging out with any dogs with suitcases? Was it showing any peculiar behaviour prior to it's disappearance?
Maybe it just needed a break and will be back when it realizes it never had it so good, as at your place.
I'm wondering if your cat made Aliyah? I know the last Nefesh b'Nefesh flight is leaving today. Also, there are many cats in Israel and your cat may crave to be near others just like her in a country that is her own.
I'd hightail it over to JFK if I were you.
The cat must have gone on strike because he/she/(it?) has not been getting its meatball leftovers for the past week.
Hopes the cat returns - for your childrens' teachers sake!
Hope the cat realises where it's home is and what it's missing and comes back to you soon.
(We have a cat. And we're Frum too.)
I hope we'll be able to sing the song that goes, "Oh, the cat came back, the very next day." In the meantime, hugs to you and the children.
Some cats pick up on the scent of other cats when lost. I'd suggest especially checking with neighbors who have cats.
I'm gathering, because you mention the time at which she left the premises, that someone in fact witnessed this. If, however, you don't know for sure that she got out, if she's been ill, she could be hiding inside somewhere.
SW: That first line alone caused me to chuckle out loud. Clever. Thanks for the laugh.
Oh, I know how horrible it is to lose a cat. I was crushed when one of my kitties disappeared, and my guys were all indoor cats. I hope you find her.
Thanks for the sympathy and the laughs. It's nice to imagine my cat making aliyah with nefesh b'nefesh. Maybe if my kids were younger that's what I'd tell them.
In the meantime it's hard not to feel a little sick wondering what's become of my cat as the rain comes down in buckets...
I'll try and post something less depressing soon, but I feel pretty down today.
Thought I left a comment a few days ago, but it too got lost.
That's so sad! Hope the cat comes back soon.
Hey, we're even more radical than you - we're frum and DOG owners! I can't count how many kids (and adults!) from the community are afraid to even enter our house. I shouldn't mock, though, I was pretty much like that about other people's dogs, until we got our own.
"Yeah yeah, I'm frum AND I have a cat."
I never understood what is the problem in the frum world with having a pet? I was talking with 2 religious girls in my class last year and one started telling us about her dog. After she left the second girl asked me if the other girl was FFB.
hope she cames back soon... on little cat feet.

There are halachic issues (ie. problems with petting a dog on shabbos) and haskafic issues (gemara says uncomplimentary things about owner of certain pets) with owning certain types of pets. Obviously, fish would be less of a problem than something like a dog or cat. But then again, fish aren't very cuddly.
Any news?
Yay!
I think the poster who surmised that the cat missed the shabbos leftovers is proven correct.
the one - what's the halachic issue with petting a dog? Now carrying the leash, we could talk from here to tomorrow about.
Oh thank goodness! I'm so happy for you and the family.
What a relief!
Yay! Glad your cat came back!
lab rab- IIRC, all animals are muktzah on shabbos. You MAY however, walk your dog attached to a leash if the leash is not hanging within a tefach of the ground (ie. it is taut) and you don't have more than a tefach hanging out of your hand.
hoorey! have you heard any good stories as to what happened? i know if i left home for a week without notice, i'd be pretty heavily grilled if i were allowed back in.
What good news!
"Oh, the cat came back, the very next day week."
She likes to travel on Shabbat, I guess.
yay :) glad kitty is back!
Great news!
Could there be kittens on the way now?
Yay, I'm so happy for you!
Although my sinuses would disagree, that's great news.
Two of my dogs were once off on an adventure for two days. I was so happy when I found them. (They didn't make it back on their own. They were lured by the aroma of someone's outdoor breakfast, tags recognized, and I got called.)
So glad your cat came back. (In a hat?)
