Constanza'ed! (TM)

Cos-tan-za'ed - the state of being flummoxed entirely by the collision of two worlds - such as the real world and the blogging world.

Originating from the television series Seinfeld in which the angst ridden George Constanza finds his girlfriend has become friends with one of his friends - causing him to become even more filled with angst, as evidenced by the repeated screaming of the phrase "WORLDS ARE COLLIDING!!!"

I think the term can have alternative meanings as well, especially when considering the following Costanza phrases...

"GEORGE IS GETTING UPSET!"

"SAY VANDALAY INDUSTRIES! SAY IT! SAY IT!"

"SERENITY NOW!"

and of course....

"IT MOVED!"

Ah yes, one of the best Seinfeld episodes ever ... George constructs his theory of marriage, in which "married George" remains sane only because "independent George" can continue to hang out with his old friends. But then when Susan becomes friendly with his Elaine, "They're killing independent George!" So he races into the movie theater to break them up, screaming all along about "independent George!"

I always have imagined that it would have been simpler for George to try to integrate his friends and his fiance into one social life ... but who am I to know?

How did this have to do with blogging again?

LabRab: The humour of George's character is that he's neurotic and his behaviour often make us wince. He is simply a mirror of many of our daily experiences...which is why he was such a compelling character.

Obviously it would have been simpler for George to integrate his two worlds together, but then we wouldn't have been zocheh to use his TV experience to easily describe the reality of our daily lives.

And in reality...worlds do collide.

My secret identity is always kinda in the balance. I'm still working that whole "anon" vs "non-anon" thing out...
I told my husband that I'm an anonymous blogger and yet I can't seem to resist swapping real life IDs with people via email.

He can't figure me out.

In any case, here's the story:
The ever cordial Lab Rab (who knows who I am, via email only) ran into my husband up at YU yesterday (we have an unusual last name.) Lab Rab introduced himself as a web-friend of mine.

My husband had heard of this "Lab Rab" but didn't know his real name (which is how the Rab introduced himself) and he also didn't know that I'd told Lab Rab who I was...

In any case husband was duly freaked, but attempted ackward politeness as only a man of science can. I was also a bit freaked but now I think it's kinda funny.

"Serenity Now" is one of my favorite things to yell, but so is "Worlds Colliding" as that happens more frequently than I care to consider.

OK, guilty as charged, it was I.

But hey - I got you to say "Costanza'ed!" :)

By the way, in case any of y'all had any doubts, Shifra's girls are REALLY cute. And her husband (can we call him Amram?) is a very good fellow.
